By virtue of this reorganization and amalgamation, MHTL has acquired over 25 years experience in the methanol business. Trinidad and Tobago Methanol Company (TTMC) is headquartered in the Point Lisas Industrial Estate in Trinidad, West Indies at the site of its methanol complex which has five methanol plants with a total production capacity of over 4 million metric tonnes annually. The company’s most recent plant, the M5000 plant, is rated as the largest methanol plant in the world with a designed capacity of 5,400 metric tonnes per day. This company was a state owned company which began operations in 1 984 with the TTMC I plant, the first world scale methanol plant to be constructed and operated in Latin America with a rated annual capacity of 460,000 metric tonnes.
